Selling a Laurel-Address House in Howard County
A Laurel mailing address doesn’t tell you which county a house is in. The City of Laurel sits in Prince George’s County, south of the Patuxent River, but Laurel addresses also reach north of the river into Howard County and east into Anne Arundel. This page is for the Howard County side. I’m Evan Weissman. I buy these houses for cash as-is, and I list them too.
Call or text (410) 498-7473, or request a cash offer.
Why the County Matters More Than the ZIP
The county a house sits in decides its property tax rate, which Register of Wills handles an estate, when the tax sale happens and which rules apply to rentals. Two houses a few miles apart, both with Laurel addresses, can land in different counties. The City of Laurel also adds its own tax, 0.71 per $100 in SDAT’s 2026-27 table, but only inside city limits on the Prince George’s side.
Before we talk price, look up your address on SDAT’s real property search. It shows the county and whether a city rate applies. If you’re on the Prince George’s side, my Laurel PG page is the better read.
I’ll look at almost any house: single-family, townhome, row, twin, or multi-family, any age, any condition, any situation.
Howard-Side Laurel Houses
North of the river, Laurel-address houses in Howard County are mostly townhomes and single-family homes from the 1970s on, with some older houses along Route 1 and the roads near the Patuxent. The newer ones usually need cosmetic updates or systems that are getting old. The older ones can need roofs, electrical work and basement waterproofing.
I buy all of them. If your house is updated and you have time, a listing may net you more, and I’ll show you that on paper.
One more thing I see in this area: houses that were rented out for years after the owner moved, then sold once the tenant left. If that’s yours, it may need paint, flooring and appliances. That’s fine with me. I’d rather see it honestly than have you spend money fixing it up for a buyer who may want something else.
Howard Records for These Sales
Estates for Howard-side houses go to the Howard Register of Wills at 9250 Judicial Way in Ellicott City. Howard’s tax sale is June 3 in 2026 on the SDAT list. For a Prince George’s address, the Upper Marlboro courthouse and Prince George’s dates apply instead.
Three Ways to Sell
Option 1: A cash sale, no repairs
I take the house as-is, with no showings and no commission on my purchase. Settlement happens on your timeline.
Option 2: A listing with me as your agent
Laurel-area homes in good shape can sell well when listed. That costs a commission and some time, and I’ll put both numbers side by side.
Option 3: Renovate and Sell Together
Where it fits, Evan can handle and pay for the updates under a written agreement, then sell on the open market. The cost of that work is repaid at settlement. You keep ownership until the sale. There is no guaranteed sale price or profit. Review any agreement with your own attorney before you sign.
I renovate most houses I buy with my own crew, and if I partner with another local buyer on yours, I’ll tell you before you sign.

Behind on Mortgage Payments
If you are behind on your mortgage or facing foreclosure, start with free help before you decide anything. A HUD-approved housing counselor costs nothing and can walk you through options with your servicer, such as catching up, a repayment plan, forbearance, or a loan modification. The Maryland HOPE hotline, 1-877-462-7555, connects homeowners with those counselors. If you have court papers or a sale date, I also recommend talking with a Maryland attorney. I can’t promise to stop a foreclosure, and I won’t pressure you. If you and your counselor decide a sale makes sense, I’ll put a cash number next to a listing plan so you can compare.
